ReCONvene Registration Will be Capped

We are delighted by the response to ReCONvene 2020 by fans and SF/F lovers. Registration has been very strong, and since this is our first online convention, we want to ensure that our resources aren’t overwhelmed. Therefore, we care capping paid registrations at 700 members, and we anticipate landing close to that number naturally, which is incredible.

Listed below is the registration link and our list of program participants. For those who have already registered, member information will be sent, starting on Thursday and continuing through Saturday as new people register, until the cap is hit. Please contact reconvene@nesfa.org with any questions.

NESFA® REIMAGINES ONLINE SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTIONS
reCONvene brings a community together online during Covid-19

Boston, MA—July 5, 2020 — The New England Science Fiction Association (NESFA) proudly announces its first online convention, reCONvene, hosted online Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 11am- 5pm (U.S. Eastern Time).

At a time when science fiction and fantasy fans and professionals can’t get together in person, reCONvene is reimagining the way the community interacts. “Having speakers participate online removes many of the barriers of participation, opening up the possibilities of who’ve been able to invite,” says Convention Chair, Erin Underwood. “It also allows us to try new things you wouldn’t be able to do at an in-person convention, like tour an artist’s studio.”

The one-day, six hour convention will offer exceptional programming including science talks, science fiction and fantasy panels, gaming, and author chats (known as kaffeeklatsches) led by world-renowned authors, artists, fans, educators, and scientists. reCONvene will welcome over 50 speakers to the online program. Announcing ReCONvene 2020 – NESFA’s Online Convention

The New England Science Fiction Association (NESFA) is pleased to announce that it is hosting ReCONvene – a new online science fiction convention – which will be held on Saturday, August 15, using an online, Zoom format. Pogramming will run from 11:00 am- 6:00 pm (Eastern Time). ReCONvene will feature six hours of simultaneous programmimg that gives attendees the ability to pick and choose from our selection of panels, talks, performances, and games.

NESFA is putting  some science and magic back into our summertime fun. With an uncertain future ahead for fans, creators, and industry professionals to gather online at large SF and fantasy events, we also wanted to give our friends and colleagues as safe and fun venue for gathering, chatting, and networking this August.

Through its work on ReCONvene, NESFA will gain valuable experience putting together online events and will use that experience as a springboard for any potential planning for Boskone, New England’s longest running science fiction convention.

More information about programming and memberships will be coming soon!
